After losing 4st, she splashed out on a tummy tuck and breast augmentation.

The super slimmer recalled: “I spoke to a surgeon who said that the surgery would also remove any excess skin caused by my weight loss, I was delighted.

“I decided to have a breast augmentation at the same time, increasing my cup size from an A cup to a D cup.

“Thankfully my husband agreed to foot the bill and took out a credit card to pay for the operation.

Husband forks out £13,500 for wife’s confidence boosting ‘mummy makeover’

Jamie-Louise Fitton had put on weight after a back condition left her bedridden and in chronic back pain – but she said her husband Adrian has been her rock and has helped her get through it

A woman has revealed how her husband forked out £13,500 on a ‘mummy makeover’ making her feel confident with her figure for the first time.

Jamie-Louise Fitton, 33, had put on weight after a back condition left her bedridden and in chronic back pain.

But after recovering from an operation, she got a personal trainer and managed to lose four stone.

Her weight loss left her with loose skin, but the mum-of-two from Stockport, Manchester, underwent a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation – paid for by her husband Adrian Fitton, 34.

She said web developer Adrian was her rock, helped her recover and agreed to foot the bill for her weight loss surgery as he could see how ‘miserable’ she was.

Jamie, who went under the knife in June 2018, said: “Since the surgery, I feel like a new woman.

“This is the first time I’ve felt confident with my figure and I’m finally comfortable taking my clothes off.”

In February 2013, weighing 13 stone, doctors diagnosed her with mechanical back failure and chronic pain.

Jamie said: “They said it was incurable and that I could do nothing but take more pain medication.

“I had steroids injected into my spine, codeine, anti-inflammatory drugs and patches.

“I was on 22 painkillers a day and took morphine every night.

“But I was miserable and could barely walk up the stairs without being in agony.

“And being unable to exercise meant that I soon weighed 14 stone and was a size 16.”

She said: “I spoke to a surgeon who said that the surgery would also remove any excess skin caused by my weight loss, I was delighted.

“I decided to have a breast augmentation at the same time, increasing my cup size from an A cup to a D cup.

“But the surgery cost £13.5K which I couldn’t afford.

“Thankfully my husband agreed to foot the bill and took out a credit card to pay for the operation.

“He could see how miserable I was.”

And in June 2018, she underwent her mummy makeover with Dr Gary Ross at BMI Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle.

Jamie said: “I knew from the moment I met Gary he was the surgeon for me.

“Gary informed me of what the surgery would entail, the recovery and if it would help my back at all.

“Through every step Gary and his team were always on hand to help and give advice.

“It was a five-hour operation but I went back to work straight away.

“The operation cured my back pain and it’s completely changed my life.

“I think Gary is a miracle worker and I can’t believe the results he’s achieved, he’s honestly changed my life.

How Much Tissue Is Removed in a Lower Body Lift?

A lower body lift (also known as a belt lipectomy) is the removal of tissue; typically requested and performed on successful weight loss patients. The tissue is removed all of the way around the body.

Every patient who loses weight does so differently and as such the distribution of skin after the fact will also be different. On a case by case basis, patients need to prioritise which area they wish to address in particular. The higher up the removal of excess tissue then the higher the position of scars will be. For example, when the priority is to remove excess tissue above the waist, then the scar will be quite highly positioned also.

In the event of issues such as a saddlebag deformity – where excess skin hangs noticeably off of the buttocks – the positioning of the scar is somewhat different. The scar is lower and as the excision of the skin occurred more around the sides of the buttocks.

The end position of scars will be determined by the tension on the wounds and the extent on the excision. An adjustment will also need to be made to ensure the wound is properly closed. This can again affect the end result of the scar. Minimal tension is aimed for, but there is a limit to what can be achieved and removed in one surgery.

Results Of A Lower Body Lift

The surgery markings are always very individual and so the patients need to prioritise the areas they wish to address, maximising the amount of skin to removed. Ultimately, the aim is obviously to achieve the result that the patient hopes for and so this prioritisation is vital.

  • She was left with chronic back pain after the birth of her second son
  • Mother-of-two could barely walk and turned to exercise to beat pain
  • When she was left with loose skin she decided to go under the knife

A mother-of-two has revealed how splashing out £13K on surgery renewed her confidence after battling chronic back pain that rendered her barely able to walk and being left with saggy skin after weight loss.

Jamie Louise Fitton, 33, from Manchester decided to undergo a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation at the same, a procedure known as the ‘Mummy makeover’, as its popular with mothers looking to revamp their post-baby bodies.

With the help of her plastic surgeon Dr Gary Ross, Jamie regained her strength and now runs marathons and ‘couldn’t be happier’ with her new glamorous look.

‘I am stronger than ever and I ran a half a marathon in October and a 10K in November. But the absolute most important thing is how I feel about me, she said’

Jamie enlisted the help of plastic surgeon Dr Gary Ross, an expert in ‘mummy makeovers’ at the BMI Alexandra Hospital in Cheshire.

‘Gary informed me of what the surgery would entail, the recovery and if it would help my back at all,’ she recalled.

‘He made no promises about my back but explained all the muscles that had been cut and damaged during my pregnancies and surgeries would be tightened so in turn this should all help my wider recovery.’

Now healthy and happy, Jamie feels like she can live again.

‘It’s around 24 weeks post op and I couldn’t be happier with my results,’ she said. ‘

Mr Gary Ross comments on the rise in popularity of fat transfer

Gary Ross, a cosmetic surgeon based in Manchester, offers the procedure at his clinic starting at around £6,000.

He said it’s a good option for women seeking “natural looking volume” without the need for silicone implants.

The cost varies per patient, depending on how big the transfer is and how much of a change they want.

“Firstly, there are no foreign objects being placed within the body during body-jet fat transfer procedures, unlike alternatives based around silicone implants,” he said.

“Secondly, as far as breast enhancement options go, a fat transfer procedure is a more gentle approach to gaining breast volume.

“There are no large incisions made, just some small ones to enable the medical professional to take and replace the fat.”

Patients also need to consider where they are having to op done – as a rule if the cost of a procedure seems too good to be true it usually is.

Response to news of breast implant and cancer link

Response to news of breast implant and cancer link

After a recent BBC investigation raised fears for UK women with breast implants, Mr Gary Ross has offered advice following the TV programme.

Mr Ross said the documentary had raised concerns about the use of textured breast implants, but pointed out that implants come with some degree of risk.

He says: “This programme comes after an investigation was launched in France back in 2011 regarding the links to rare forms of cancer associated with some implants.

“The programme reported French women were being advised to avoid so called textured implants, although the same warning has not being given to women here in England yet.

“The risk appears small but patients should be aware of ANY risk prior to undergoing breast enlargement surgery using silicone implants.

“The manufacturers of these implants, which have been used for over a decade, have said the implants are supported by studies and testing, but the regulatory system needs improving.

“It’s hard to know the long term risks of newer implants as they can take many years to develop. A register for breast implants was set up in 2016 but at the moment it’s still voluntary.

The programme included a first hand account of Breast Implant Associated Lymphoma – a cancer of the immune system.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority

had received 57 reports of ALCL in patients with breast implants, 45 of which meet specific diagnostic criteria, as of September 2018.
That puts the estimated risk of BIA-ALCL at about one per 24,000 implants.

Gary concludes: “Women looking for increased breast volume without implants can consider alternatives such as fat transfer, where fat is taken from another area of the body and injected into the upper breasts to create shape and volume.”

Does Lower Body Lift Surgery Affect The Thighs & Buttocks?

Lower body lift surgery remains a focus in our next video, discussing whether the procedure also affects your thighs and buttocks when it’s completed. The surgery involves the removal of tissue around the whole body following dramatic weight loss on the lower body. This excess skin can advance to the thigh and buttocks too but whether these parts of the body are affected depends on where the scars are positioned after the lower body lift surgery. Patients do have alternative surgery options to address these areas such as a thigh lift or gluteal augmentation. A gluteal augmentation also involves the process of a fat transfer.

It must be highlighted that lower body lift surgery in an extensive procedure, therefore it isn’t recommended that the surgery is combined with another form of surgery such as a thigh lift or gluteal augmentation. There are case studies shown in the video to show how the lower body lift surgery affects the thighs and buttocks. Because the surgery takes place around the waist area, it tends to affect the upper thigh more than the mid-lower thigh region which is shown in the case studies provided. However, the case studies are an example of how visible excess skin can be improved through a lower body lift surgery.

The British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS) Annual meeting 2018

The British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS) Annual meeting 2018

The British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS) Annual meeting 2018 took place on the 4th & 5th October at London Olympia focusing on blending surgical and non-surgical techniques to achieve the best results in facial rejuvenation and body contouring.

BAAPS was created to promote excellence in aesthetic cosmetic surgery to improve overall safety standards, and to enhance the education of the public about aesthetic cosmetic surgery, and in particular the benefits and risks of different procedures. The BAAPS meeting ran alongside the CCR Expo meeting and this year saw live non-surgical demonstrations within the BAAPS meeting.

It was a great honour to share my personal experience in relation to the mummy makeover procedure, fleur de lis abdominoplasty and body lifting with my colleagues and to be given the opportunity to meet and discuss experiences with an international panel of experts. A wide variety of body contouring procedures were discussed and it was refreshing to here so may different opinions and results.

There is an increasing need to offer a wide variety of options to patients, often involving multiple surgical sites. It is clear that the variety of combinations that can be performed simultaneously is expanding.

Ultimately, the feasibility of combining body and breast rejuvenation surgery rests on the requirement that the entire operation must be as safe as each of its component procedures if performed individually.

In facial surgery key opinion leaders debated the pros and cons of a wide variety of surgical options for facial surgery. There were live non-surgical demonstrations and a robust discussion on the treatment of the anterior neck when combined with face lifting. The pros and cons of many rejuvenative techniques such as brow lifting, fat transfer and facial implants in order to improve facial aesthetics were debated. The blending of non-surgical and surgical techniques was reflected by the wide variety of clinical experts.

It was a privilege to be part of the international faculty, to learn and exchange ideas in order to continue to improve the quality of care for patients.
