This lady wished to improve the appearance of her nose and in particular the tip. Where patient’s concerns are mainly related to the tip an open rhinoplasty gives a much-improved visualisation of the tip cartilages and allows finer adjustments than a closed rhinoplasty. The scar of an open rhinoplasty is well hidden and although initially the tip can be swollen initially this will reduce significantly over the first few weeks. Refinement of the tip cartilages has allowed a much improved cosmetic appearance of the nose.

Fleur De Lis Abdominoplasty Case Study 2

This lady has had previous bariatric surgery. She had a large para umbilical hernia and significant morbidity issues. She underwent a hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction alongside an abdominoplasty with a fleur de lis pattern. The vertical scar has healed well at 3 months. The tummy button was sacrificed as part of the procedure as the risks of umbilical necrosis and exposure of the hernia mesh repair outweighed the benefits. In order to obtain a suitable abdominal rejuvenation procedure the scar for the fleur de lis in this circumstance needed to be extended around the back. This lady was unfit for a bodylift and there is always a compromise on what can be achieve with an abdominoplasty around the back.  Although she has had a hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction it is impossible in scenarios like this to be able to flatten the appearance of the abdomen any further. This patient has had many previous abdominal surgeries, she has a lot of excess skin and required abdominal tightening and liposuction. This lady wished to try and remove as much fat and excess skin as possible and was not concerned about the possibility of a vertical line that is required for a fleur de lis abdominoplasty. A Fleur de Lis abdominoplasty allows one to remove more skin and tighten the flanks and waist more than a standard tummy tuck. The results are seen after 6 months and it will still take some time for the scars to settle.

Fleur De Lis Abdominoplasty Case Study 8

This lady underwent a fleur de lis abdominoplasty. The pictures postop are taken at 3 months and 9 months postop and show the improvement that a fleur de lis can achieve in terms of reducing the excess upper skin and improve the waist contour. The scar will continue to fade with massage and patients need to continue to massage the scars. This procedure is best for patients with excess tissue in the upper part of the abdomen in whom a classic tummy tuck would unlikely achieve a satisfactory result.

This lady has had a thigh lift through a horizontal scar in the groin crease. The scar curves around the underside of the buttock region and is well hidden. When combined with liposuction one can improve not only the excess fat but also the excess skin that often occurs following liposuction only.

Fleur De Lis Abdominoplasty Case Study 5

This patient has had previous surgery to her abdominal wall and excessive fat in the upper part of her abdomen. A fleur de Lys abdominoplasty leads to a vertical scar in combination with a horizontal scar. The previous scar has been removed and the vertical excision allows a better definition of the abdomen. Liposuction has also been performed although often liposuction in this scenario is better performed at a second stage. This image is seen 4 months postoperatively and will continue to fade over time.
