Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is also called a ‘nose job’ and is an operation designed to change the appearance of the nose.

Rhinoplasty in Manchester

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which aims to reshape the nose to improve its appearance and function. The nose can be something that patients are self-conscious about due to its size, shape or irregularities, which may be congenital or result from injury. Rhinoplasty surgeons aim to refine the nose by reshaping cartilage and bone, as well as adjusting the nasal structure to achieve balanced and facial harmony.

The procedure can also be combined with other cosmetic surgeries, such as a face lift or brow lift. You can even further enhance your look with non-surgical procedures like lasers, peels and dermabrasion. This can all be discussed in your consultation with Mr. Ross.

Nights In Hospital

Most patients spend 1 or 2 nights in hospital to let the general anaesthetic wear off after your procedure, but this may differ depending on any surgical combinations you’ve chosen.

Recovery

Short-term recovery takes around 1-2 weeks following rhinoplasty surgery in Manchester. After this, your nose will become less blocked and any unusual sensations should ease. Mr. Ross is a highly-qualified rhinoplasty surgeon and will be able to suggest recommendations after the routine check-up.

Full Results

You should see the full results of the procedure 12 months after surgery, as this gives all your scars and bruising a chance to fully heal. At this stage, you can assess the final outcome of the procedure and how satisfied you are.

Our Patient's Journey After a Rhinoplasty

Here is our case studies for rhinoplasty, but for our full range of case studies, head over to our rhinoplasty case studies page.

Rhinoplasty Consultation

The success of your rhinoplasty consultation in Manchester depends on your openness and honesty in relation to your expectations of the procedure.

You will be asked questions about your health, desires and lifestyle. Your rhinoplasty can be tailored to your needs, so take the time to talk openly and honestly about your requirements during your consultation with Mr. Ross.

Preparing For a Rhinoplasty in Manchester

General anaesthetic is required for most types of facial procedures. Our patient’s health is of the utmost importance to us, so we recommend that you postpone the surgery if you feel unwell or have any existing health issues. It’s also recommended that you stop smoking, taking aspirin or digesting herbal supplements and vitamins 6 weeks before you undergo surgery.

You may need to have pre-operative tests before your nose reconstruction to establish if you are healthy enough for the procedure. We will arrange this if required.

After the Surgery

Most patients are discharged the day after nose reconstruction. Your nose may feel blocked for 1-2 weeks post-surgery and you might experience a sensation of fluid in the back of your throat. To support your recovery, it is recommended that you keep your head elevated, avoid hot baths and try not to sneeze.

Your rhinoplasty surgeon will review your progress at a follow-up appointment one week after surgery to assess your recovery. It is crucial to avoid any contact sports for the first six weeks to allow the nasal bones and cartilage to heal properly.

Potential Risks and Complications

Rhinoplasty surgery is typically associated with temporary side effects, such as numbness, bruising and swelling around the nose, cheeks and eyes. These are normal post-operative symptoms that generally resolve within a few weeks as the area heals. While rare, procedures performed under general anaesthesia carry uncommon risks such as respiratory or cardiac complications. Should you have concerns about any symptoms during your recovery, please contact Mr. Ross’s clinic.

Non-surgical nose jobs involve dermal filler being injected into the nose. The results of this procedure last around 6 months and can be effective if only minor changes to the nose are desired. Open rhinoplasty surgery is an external approach where a scar is placed on the outside of the nose. This may be required if the size or shape of the tip is being altered, or for some reconstructive procedures. Closed rhinoplasty is an internal approach, where the scars are inside of the nostrils.
