Mini Tummy Tuck

A mini tummy tuck and is an operation designed to rejuvenate the lower abdominal area and removes excess fat and skin.

What Is A Mini Tummy Tuck?

A small tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that is suitable for patients who have a small area of excess skin on their lower abdomen. This is usually a lot less skin that needs to be removed in comparison to a traditional tummy tuck.

A mini tummy tuck is more suitable for patients after childbirth who have lost weight and are left with a small area of loose skin.

Preparing For A Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery
The majority of abdominal rejuvenation procedures on the abdomen require a general anaesthetic. We ask that to ensure you are maintaining a healthy diet and you stop taking medication unless approved by Mr Ross 2 weeks prior. We also ensure all of our patients are well and have someone to take them back from surgery to be cared for during the healing process.
Mini Tummy Tuck Surgery
A mini tummy tuck often takes between 1 and 1.5 hours, depending on your case. A small incision is made above the pubic region to remove excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. Depending on your case, Mr Ross may tighten your lower abdominal muscles and close the incision. As a smaller tummy tuck requires a smaller incision, there is a smaller scar.
Post Surgery Care
You will be able to leave the hospital the same day after a mini tummy tuck surgery. You will be swollen around the area for up to 6 weeks or beyond, depending on your healing process. Mr Ross will be provided with aftercare instructions, including keeping the wounds wet for up to a week and revisiting us to check the healing process up to 1 week post-surgery. You will likely need up to 6 weeks of avoiding core exercises.
Potential Risks And Complications
Common and normal post-surgery healing includes numbness, bruising, and swelling, especially around the scar line. Sensation can change following a mini tummy tuck. Although permanent numbness is uncommon, the sensation can take a number of months to return. The scars following a mini tummy tuck can take time before the scars start turning purple/pink, and then start fading into a white line. Uncommon complications include infection, haematoma, delayed healing/skin necrosis/skin loss, seroma formation and thickened scar.
