Celebrity mums boosting the mummy makeover
Celebrity mums are behind the surge in young women seeking body rejuvenation treatments, it’s been revealed this week.
According to top UK aesthetics experts including Mr Gary Ross, glamorous celebrity mums including Kylie Jenner are the driving force for elevated enquires into Mummy Makeover procedures.
The rise of the mummy makeover
Referring to a collection of body rejuvenation procedures designed to lift, tone and smooth areas such as the abdomen and breasts, cosmetic surgeons have claimed new mums are keen to get back in shape like their favourite celebs.
Mummy makeover procedures can include breast uplift surgery, tummy tucks, fat transfer and body contouring. Often several procedures are combined during one operation resulting in less downtime for the mothers who want to be back with their family quickly.
The mummy makeover expert
Mr Gary Ross, who performs mummy makeover procedures every week, says he’s seen a steep rise in enquiries for body rejuvenation procedures, most notably from new mums who are unhappy with their appearance following pregnancy.
He said the likes of “yummy mummies” Kylie Jenner and Cheryl Cole – plus the role of photo-led social apps – are behind the increase in demand, as young UK mums want quick results like their idols.
Mr Ross explains:
“We are seeing more and more women seeking mummy makeover procedures in order to snap back into shape quickly following having kids. This is, in no small part, down to celebrities who seemingly appear to ‘bounce back’ from pregnancy quickly.
“Pregnancy can take its toll on a woman’s body and leaves its mark in a way that some find unsettling. For some that could be sagging breasts, for others loose skin around the tummy.
“Seeing their pregnancy idols looking so perfect within weeks of giving birth seems to lead them to seeking aesthetic treatments.
He concludes:
“There are procedures available to help rejuvenate the body post-pregnancy, although these should only be undertaken for your own motivations, and not to look like a celebrity.”
“They also don’t come cheap, so can be very expensive if you don’t have the celebrity budget.”
Waiting until after pregnancy is finished for treatments
Similarly, women seeking anti ageing treatments to mirror celebrities, most notably lip fillers and muscle relaxing injections, increases after pregnancy.
Mr Ross says:
“Pregnant women are not advised to undergo injectable aesthetic treatments, so it’s not unusual to see patients soon after birth who have missed their regular treatments seeking anti ageing procedures and treatments.”
Mummy Makeover procedures
Three of the most popular procedures that form the basis of body rejuvenation surgery include:
Tummy tuck: a body contouring procedure designed to remove loose skin and re-contour the abdomen after pregnancy.
Breast uplift/mastopexy: a breast rejuvenation procedure which lifts breasts that may be sagging or ‘empty’ as a result of pregnancy or breast feeding.
Body-Jet fat transfer: body contouring procedure that takes fat from one area of the body and replaces it where volume may be lacking, like the upper breasts.
