Improving the appearance of the eyes with a brow lift
For those looking to improve the appearance of the eyes, a brow lift maybe the answer. Unlike blepharoplasty procedures which are designed to reduce skin above or below the eye, eyebrow lift tackles the space above the eyes along the bone.
In many cases blepharoplasty procedures are combined with brow lift surgery in order to give patients the best results. However, in some cases loudest surgery is all that is needed to correct drooping eyelids. Why do I have drooping eyelids?
Drooping eyelids can occur in both men and women, and can be as a result of genetics all the ageing process. When it comes to the upper eyelids, it may not just be the ageing process to blame for drooping eyelids.
How does the brow affect the upper eyelids?
If the brow is heavy it can result in drooping eyelids despite the upper eyelids themselves not being saggy. This is especially common in men, who may find heavy brow is making them look older than they are.
Why isn’t an upper blepharoplasty enough?
An upper blepharoplasty is designed to remove excess skin and tighten the muscles in the eyelids above the eyes. If the problem is actually the brow position, this cannot be helped with standard blepharoplasty procedures alone.
Having said that it is also quite common for a plastic surgeon to suggest combining an upper blepharoplasty with brown lift surgery in order to provide the best results possible.
What does a brow lift involve?
A brow lift procedure is designed to lift and reshape the space above the eyes including the brow line. This is an invasive procedure and will require a general anaesthetic.
During the surgery any decision is made to enable your plastic surgeon to lift the brow before the incision is closed. You can find out more information and the specifics about brow lift surgery fibre treatment pages.
How long does it take to recover from brow lift procedures?
Augmenting the brow line is a relatively straightforward surgical procedure. In most cases it is completed within an hour or two. The recovery process is dependent on the individual patient. Time off work will be required in order to recover, and you may suffer with some bruising and swelling in the weeks proceeding surgery.
The full results can usually be seen in the six months after brow lift surgery has been completed. You can see examples of brow lifting patients here.
