Fleur de lis abdominoplasty Case Study 2

This lady has had previous bariatric surgery. She had a large para umbilical hernia and significant morbidity issues. She underwent a hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction alongside an abdominoplasty with a fleur de lis pattern. The vertical scar has healed well at 3 months. The tummy button was sacrificed as part of the procedure as the risks of umbilical necrosis and exposure of the hernia mesh repair outweighed the benefits. In order to obtain a suitable abdominal rejuvenation procedure the scar for the fleur de lis in this circumstance needed to be extended around the back. This lady was unfit for a bodylift and there is always a compromise on what can be achieve with an abdominoplasty around the back.  Although she has had a hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction it is impossible in scenarios like this to be able to flatten the appearance of the abdomen any further. The scars are shown at 3 months.
